15 Worst Movie Mistakes in History

Do you want to share?

Do you like this story?

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean

We seriously hope whoever was editing this scene was drunk on Jack Sparrow's rum. (DING!) That's the only explanation we have for the guy in the white tee, cowboy hat and sunglasses, walking across the screen right as the good captain was speaking. Granted, if Sparrow did catch a glimpse of this person, he probably would have assumed he was just seeing things and then go back to his bottle of booze.

2. Spider-Man

Movies are often shot out of sequence, but this scene in 'Spider-Man' appears to be a pretty big oversight. Right after an extra is thrown through a window, the shattered glass magically repairs itself. Yep, just like that. No sign of a repair guy or even Spidey stepping in to fix the damage.

3. Ocean's 11

Everyone knows Brad Pitt's 'Ocean's 11' character loves to eat; Rusty is always seen scarfing down nachos or burgers or some other tasty snack. In this scene, Pitt goes from holding a giant shrimp cocktail to an entirely different dish in a matter of seconds. Hm, no wonder these guys were able to pull off a casino heist with such ease.

4. Speed

In 'Speed,' Keanu Reeves plays a cop trying to stop a madman from blowing up a bus (if the bus goes under 50mph, it will explode). Somehow, the ad folks working for the Los Angeles Department of Transportation were still able to tack on this zebra ad while Keanu tried to desperately disarm the weapon. One minute, it's not there. The next minute, it is.

5. Star Wars

The force is strong, even after Darth Vader kills you. In this scene from 'Episode IV,' Anakin Skywalker breaks the neck of a rebel leader and then throws him up against the ship's wall. However, in order to break his fall, the actor puts his hands up right before impact. You're dead man! You can't move your hands anymore!

6. Titanic

Even King of the World James Cameron isn't immune to mistakes. In the beginning of 'Titanic,' when Kate Winslet's Rose approaches the ship, you can see a mole on the left side of her face. Later in the film, it's on her right side. Considering the number of times teen girls have seen this flick, you'd think there would have been a bigger outcry.

7. The Return of the King

In 'The Lord of the Rings' universe, Peter Jackson is second only to J.R.R. Tolkien. However, even some auteurs can screw things up. In this shot from 'Return of the King,' the third and final film in the series, we see Gandalf standing on a balcony at Minas Tirith. After a quick cutaway, we return to see the same balcony, but this time with different neighboring buildings. So we guess it goes Gandalf the Grey, then the White, then the Master Architect?

8. Jurassic Park

Here at Moviefone, we promote a safe work environment. As you can tell from this 'Jurassic Park' shot, so does Steven Spielberg. In the opening scene, when a velociraptor is let loose, an unnamed employee falls down and ends up getting eaten. To break the employee's fall, one of the film's crew members made sure to stick his hands out for a quick second -- all of which made it on to the final cut.

9. Pulp Fiction

Samuel L. Jackson's Jules made a big deal about not being hit by the bullets in 'Pulp Fiction.' Well, what if Jules discovered that the bullets had already created holes in the wall prior to them being shot? At that point, he probably would have needed therapy on top of his 'roaming the earth' plan.

10. The Matrix Reloaded

'The Matrix Reloaded' cost so much money to make, the least the Wachowskis could have done was digitally insert Agent Smith's face on every single clone in this fight scene. Instead, what we get are split-second looks at guys who only sort of resemble Smith -- not that that made any difference to Neo.

11. Raiders of the Lost Ark

Unfortunately, the Indiana Jones movies are not historically accurate (we still wish the knights in 'The Last Crusade' actually existed). But Steven Spielberg could have at least paid more attention to this flyover scene during 'Raiders of the Lost Ark.' The map here says Thailand. Problem is, that country was called Siam until 1939, three years after 'Raiders' takes place.

12. Harry Potter

[Insert stupid joke here about how Harry Potter is a wizard, which is why he was able to disapparate from one side of the bench to the other without the viewer, or anyone else for that matter, blinking an eye in this scene from 'The Sorcerer's Stone.' Man, we wish we had gone to Hogwarts...]

13. Goonies

We're not saying the horn on the bike is the reason for Troy's despicable actions in this scene. However, if the horn was never there to begin with, maybe the dumb jock would have given Brand a pass? Instead, Mikey's older brother ends up crashing into the woods. Well, at least he got the girl in the end.

14. Gladiator

Ah, Ancient Rome: one of the greatest cities in history. And the Coliseum! Where thousands of Romans came to watch gladiators fight, claw and kill their way against engine-powered chariots. Wait, what? Well, 'Gladiator' may have won the Oscar for best picture, but the Academy certainly overlooked director Ridley Scott's mistake here of showing the engine attached to this ancient chariot.

15. Raiders of the Lost Ark

Yes, Indy makes the list twice. This time, it's for another 'Raiders' scene where our hero is swimming in a lagoon. Two seconds later, he emerges, completely dry. Unless he went through that crazy Willy Wonka machine that dries you off instantly, this is impossible
